What we are learning in the autumn term:
Our Topic this term is: Our School, Our Community
The Brand New Kid by Katie Couric
We will continue to:
During the autumn term Blue Class will be exploring our topic: Our School, Our community by looking at not only our school but other places around the local area.
Our class text, The Brand New Kid, links school life to the concept of acceptance and appreciating each other’s differences. After all, we have far more in common than we are different! During these communication sessions we will work on activities such as symbol work, mark making, matching letters and learning some Makaton.
Our topic will link nicely with other areas of the curriculum, we intend to explore different textures, smells, numbers, sizes and colours of our community and produce our own sensory school building for display. In addition, we hope to produce lots of baking that links nicely to buildings/community, such as house biscuits and ginger bread men.
