We had a wonderful time when Get Cycling came into school on Monday 20th May. Here are some of the adapted bikes that we tried.
As part of our food topic we have continued looking at our Very Hungry Caterpillar story and we have worked hard practising our letters and using play dough to develop our motor skills. We also have enjoyed Easter crafts and having great fun making cornflake buns and biscuits; as well as enjoying visits from the ‘Therapy Pets’ dogs. So we have had a fun and busy time!
The Very Hungry Caterpillar: Eric Carle
As part of our food topic we had great fun making and winning the best tasting upside down pineapple cake competition for Red Nose Day. We also had great fun dressing up and creating monkey handprints and pancakes for our World Book day story ‘The Monkey Puzzle. Throughout the spring term we have enjoyed many aspects of food and spring time and we really enjoyed re-telling the Very Hungry Caterpillar story and creating lots of fun foods, artwork and crafts.
World Book Day
Chinese New Year
As part of celebrating Chinese New Year, Early Years had lots of fun in messy play exploring noodles, rice and sweet and sour sauce. We tasted the sauce and made fortune cookies. We also did some fun art activities making paper lanterns using Chinese symbols. In music we listened to Chinese music and played some gongs and drums.
Early Years have been exploring exotic fruits and animals which link to the class story: Handa’s surprise. We explored different textures, smells, sizes and colours of the fruits. We had lots of fun making fruit smoothies! During communication sessions we did different activities such as symbol work, mark making, matching letters and learning some Makaton. We also looked at animals from other countries such as Elephants and Giraffes.
