What we are learning in the summer term:

Our Topic this term is water

This term we are exploring the Seaside. We will be using the sensory story  “A Day at the Seaside” and “Rainbow Fish”.

We will continue to: (include information about activities you will be doing and opportunities for communication and outdoor learning)

During the summer term Green Class will be exploring our topic –‘Water’. Our topic book will be “A Day at the Seaside this is a multi-sensory story from the Bag Book collection.  The sensory resources are wonderful for encouraging our children to engage in the text and links lovely with the “Rainbow Fish” Book.

We will focus on the sense of sound:-

Through listening to the sounds of the sea, creatures in the sea, fog horn, lighthouse and how they interact with the environment under the sea. The pupils will also have the opportunity to use their other the senses – what can be smelt, touched or tasted?

We will explore a variety of stimuli at fish, shells, pebbles and plants. The pupils will explore sensory stimuli to create pictures of fish using CD`s, metallic textures, chalk, and sand.

In our sensory baking we will explore and experience ingredients to make our own ice-cream sundaes, ice-lollies and sandwiches.

The topic links nicely with our Science Week activities this year that will also focus on the WATER Theme were we will develop our own seaside for the outdoor play area.
